Car accidents

Recently there have been several car chases in which vehicles have been destroyed and people injured or killed.

This is terrible.  Additionally, having a stolen vehicle destroyed in a chase does not do the owner any good.

Many states have rules requiring a chase be called off when it is recognized as becoming dangerous. There should be such a rule here in every jurisdiction.

AG Campbell

Many thanks to the Boston Herald reporters and Howie Carr in his column keeping us up to date on Attorney General Andrea Campbell and her worldwide travels costing the Massachusetts taxpayers nearly $300,000.  AG Campbell refuses to work with State Auditor Diana DiZoglio on auditing the Massachusetts Legislature after 72% of the state voters were in favor of Question One in last November’s election.

The State House leaders Ron Mariano and Karen Spilka have said that the ballot initiative was unconstitutional. I received the same answer after contacting my State Senator Jake Oliveira’s office about the inability to meet the voter’s approval. Oliveira has stated that it is a violation of the Massachusetts
Constitution and the U.S. Constitution. If that was the issue why did AG Campbell allow Question One on last November’s ballot?

The Massachusetts elected officials refusing an audit shows total disrespect for the voters and raises questions on what actually is in the financial documents and state contracts of the Massachusetts House and Senate.

Public safety

Again we are faced with three horrific mass casualty incidents. The first at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan where 11 innocent shoppers were stabbed. The second in Reno, Nevada where three victims where killed at a casino and third and most deadly in Manhattan where four were killed including a NYC police officer.

This brings us to the concern: are we properly informed and protected when inside any public occupied building large or small where staff is trained to respond to these extreme emergencies?

OSHA requires an EAP, Emergency Action Plan for all public occupied business such as retail stores, medical offices, fast food and others. They are required to have trained staff members assist all visitors to safely exit their premise or assist in their medical needs.

My suggestions is to have all public occupied businesses inform their guests of all public safety means that they provide. Foremost would be repeated public announcements of all emergency exits. Also posted on bulletin boards, handouts with business info or QR-codes can be effective.

Begin safety now for the benefit of all.
